All students at Bayshore Elementary School will receive comprehensive school counseling services that teach valuable academic, personal/social, and career skills that students will be able to take with them throughout their educational experience and also throughout their entire life. 


The counseling department at Bayshore Elementary School offers a comprehensive and global program focusing on academic, personal/social, and career development within a safe, supportive, and caring environment. Each individual student is provided the tools and skills needed to reach his/her potential in all domains of life and will be prepared to become responsible and productive members of society.


As Bayshore’s School Counselor, I perform the following roles in order to promote positive development in the academic, career and personal/social domains for all students:

  • Promote positive attitudes among students towards self, family, peers and the community
  • Assist students in identifying the correlation between school performance and future opportunities
  • Develop and deliver classroom guidance lessons that teach skills such as decision making, resolving conflict and respecting others
  • Work with students, parents and school staff to identify learning needs and design interventions to enhance student success
  • Help students to recognize and reach their full potential  
  • Provide support during personal crises
  • Work with students on attendance issues
  • Coordinate referrals to outside agencies
  • Develop student career awareness
  • Help to create a safe and positive learning experience
  • Provide individual, small group, and large group counseling services
  • Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, staff, administrators and students
  • Provide information and resources to parents on a variety of issues
